Bio

Coach Katie Perkins is a full-time professor and head women's soccer coach. She is entering her ninth season with the Colt family. Katie started as the head coach for the Cañada women's team in 2015 and coached the squad to its first winning season in five years. Since 2016, the Colts have made the playoffs the last seven consecutive years.

A Bay Area native, Katie is from San Jose, California. As a youth player, Katie played for the DeAnza Force, who captured two state cup championships. She also participated in district, state, regional, and national ODP. Katie was named to Soccer Buzz’s list of top 50 high school recruits in the nation. After club soccer, she played Division I soccer at Loyola Marymount University. In college, she was awarded honors such as WCC Player of the Week and is still listed in the “all-time” awards under games played and game-winning goals. As a two-year team captain, Katie also earned several academic honors, including NSCAA Scholar-Athlete, All West Region Team, and WCC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

After college, Katie was a member of the US Women’s National Futsal team, where she served as team captain at the AMF Women’s Futsal World Cup in 2013 and the International Pacific Cup in 2014.

Katie received a bachelor's degree in biology from Loyola Marymount University. After graduating from LMU, Katie earned both her teaching credential and Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology from San Jose State University. After graduating from San Jose State, she became a lecturer at SJSU before signing on with the Colts.
