HAYWARD – Sophomore Rachel Mull posted a hat trick with 3 goals to help lead the No. 17 state-ranked Cañada College women's soccer team to a dominant 7-0 Coast Conference victory at Chabot College on Tuesday.
It was the Colts' fourth straight win, all coming while shutting out their opponents. Cañada is unbeaten in 10 of its last 11 games, earning 8 victories, a tie, and just one loss. With the win over Chabot, the Colts improved to 11-3-1 overall and 5-1 in Coast Conference play.
Mull wasted little time in opening the game's scoring. She knocked in the first of her three goals in the third minute off the assist from Lilian Nasrah. Mull added goals in the 23rd and 49th minute to complete the hat trick.
Jimena Sandoval, Estenfania Piedrahita Gonzalez, and Rosa Churape Samano all scored second-half goals for the Colts. Cañada was also credited an own-goal by Chabot in the 11th minute.
Jianna Nabung and Cassandra Herrera combined for the shutout in goal for the Colts. It marked Cañada's 10th shutout of the season.
Cañada returns to action on Friday (Oct. 20) when the Colts host Skyline College in a 4 p.m. Coast Conference game.
