SARATOGA – Mikel Gonzalez' goal in the 51st minute proved to be the game-winner for Cañada College in a narrow 1-0 win at West Valley College on Saturday.
Luis Evangelista turned in an outstanding effort in goal, posting 7 saves in the contest to earn his first shutout of the season.
After a defensive battle in the first half, Gonzalez finally broke free to score off the assist from Altai Ordubadi.
With the win, Cañada moved to 1-0-1 overall. The Colts are back in action on Tuesday (Sep. 9) when they host Santa Rosa Junior College in a 5 p.m. game.
