FOLSOM – An impressive postseason run for the Cañada College men's soccer continues. On Tuesday, the No. 5-seeded Colts needed overtime but came out on top at No. 4 Folsom Lake College by a final score of 3-1 in a third-round game of the Northern California Regional Playoffs.
Cañada, now 14-3-6 overall, is just one win away from advancing to the state championships and will host No. 8 Merced College (10-5-7 overall) in a Round 4 game of the playoffs on Saturday (Nov. 30) at 2 p.m.

On Tuesday, Cañada and Folsom Lake battled for 90 minutes with neither team able to find the back of the net. Leimana Makasini finally broke the deadlock with his goal off the assist from Daniel Schembri in the 100th minute during the first overtime period to give Cañada a 1-0 lead.
Vlad Tomutiu and Vladimir Markov both added goals in the second OT to secure the Colts' victory. Luis Evangelista totaled 6 saves in goal for Cañada.
Merced was a 3-1 winner over No. 17 Las Positas College on Tuesday to earn their spot in the regional finals. Cañada and Merced will be meeting for the first time this season.
The winner of the contest moves on to the 3C2A State Championships on Dec. 6 & 8 at American River College in Sacramento. The Colts are looking to make their first trip to the state tournament under head coach Erik Gaspar.
