REDWOOD CITY – Facing one of the top teams in the state, the Cañada College men's soccer team put together a solid effort to play No. 4 state-ranked Evergreen Valley College to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday.
The Colts were able to bounce back from consecutive losses to end the streak. With the Coast Conference tie, Cañada moved to 4-2-4 overall and 0-2-1 in conference play.
The two squads battled during a scoreless first half with neither team able to break through. Evergreen Valley finally got on the board in the 60th minute with goal to take the 1-0 lead.
But with time winding down, Cañada's Justin Galvez tallied the equalizer off the assist from Daniel Schembri in the 82nd minute. For Galvez, it was his team-leading fourth goal of the season.
Goalkeeper Luis Evangelista did all he could to keep the Colts in the game as he posted 6 saves.
The Colts return to the field on Friday (Oct. 11) when they travel to Chabot College for a 4 p.m. Coast Conference game.
