REDWOOD CITY – The Cañada College men's soccer team won its second straight game to open the season on Friday as the Colts cruised to a 5-3 non-conference victory over visiting Lake Tahoe Community College at home.
It was a complete team effort with five different Colts scoring in the contest.
Cañada jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after Vladimir Markov (7th minute) and Vlad Tomutiu (9th minute) both scored within 10 minutes of the opening whistle.
Lake Tahoe responded with a pair of goals to tie it up at 2-2 but the Colts went into halftime with a 3-2 leads thanks to a goal by Leimana Makasini just moments before the 45-minute whistle.
The two squads battled for a majority of the second half with neither team finding the back of the net. But in the 89th minute, the Colts got an insurance goal from Justin Galvez and Vittorio Micaelian put another one away in the 90th minute.
Luis Evangelista totaled 5 saves in goal to earn the win for Cañada.
The Colts, now 2-0 overall, are back in action on Sep. 5 when they host West Valley College in a non-conference game.
