SANTA ROSA – Kiichi Murakami's goal in the 88th minute gave the Cañada College men's soccer team hope, but a two-goal deficit late in the second half proved too much to overcome as the No. 10-seeded Colts suffered a 2-1 season-ending loss at No. 2 Santa Rosa Junior College in Round 2 of the Northern California Regional Playoffs on Tuesday.
Santa Rosa got goals in the 44th and 67th minutes to go up 2-0. Colts' goalkeeper Kosuke Kaneko did all he could to keep his squad in the game, posting 5 saves.
Cañada officially closed out the 2023 season with an 11-8-3 overall record after going 6-5-2 in the Coast Conference South Division. The Colts made their second consecutive postseason appearance under head coach Erik Gaspar.
