Colts rally late to defeat Marin in season opener

KENTFIELD – The 2023 Cañada College men's soccer season got off to a great start thanks to a 3-2 win at College of Marin on Tuesday. The Colts are 1-0.
Cañada battled for a 2-1 halftime advantage. Fabrizio Garrido knocked in the first goal of the season for the Colts, taking the assist from Kiichi Murakami to score in the 12th minute. Marin came right back in the 20th minute to get the equalizer before Cañada's Daniel Schembri gave his squad back the lead by scoring just moments before the halftime whistle in minute 45 (Diego Ruiz assist).
Marin tied it up once again in the 71st minute but Cañada was able to pull out the victory thanks to what proved to be the game-winning goal from Tyler Ho in the 82nd minute. Noah Lake and Ruiz were credited with the double assist.
Kosuke Kaneko earned the victory in goal for the Colts.
The Colts will look the keep the early-season momentum going on Friday (Sep. 1) when they host Napa Valley College in its home opener.
