Colts move to No. 21 in state poll after win over No. 19 Ohlone
Cañada College is ranked No. 21 in this week's California Community College Men's Basketball Coaches Association (CCCMBCA) state poll after the Colts knocked off previously No. 19-ranked Ohlone College by a final score of 84-81 on Friday night in Fremont.
The Colts actually moved down a spot in the poll after splitting its two Coast Conference North Division games last week. On Wednesday, Cañada fell to No. 1 City College of San Francisco in its Coast North opener.
But the Colts were able to bounce back from the tough loss at home with an impressive come-from-behind win at Ohlone. Cañada trailed 52-35 at halftime before outscoring the Renegades 49-29 over the final 20 minutes to pull out the victory.
It took a complete team effort as six of the seven Colts that saw action in the contest scored in double figures.
Jake Skaggs led the way by posting a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Justin Moore provided a spark off the bench with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals.
Also for the Colts, Darius Jackson and Brylan Lundy both scored 14 points each while Josiah Morris added 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. And Logan Baltazar got in on the action with 11 points.
Cañada moved to 1-1 in a very stacked Coast Conference North Division and heads into the new week with an 11-4 overall record. The Colts are back in action on Wednesday (Jan. 15) when they travel to De Anza College for a 7 p.m. Coast North game.
