Colts send three to next level
Cañada College men's basketball head coach Eddy Harris has announced that three members of the 2023-24 Colts squad have transferred on to four-year colleges to continue their academic and athletic careers.
Jovan Abregana (Lyceum of the Philippines University), Daniel Benjamin (Pacific Union College), and Luke Mathiesen (The Master's University) are all taking their talents to the next level.
Abregana, originally out of Washington High School in Fremont, is headed overseas to Lyceum of the Philippines University in Manilla, Philippines. He saw action in 21 games this past season for the Colts, scoring a season-high 10 points against Cabrillo College on January 5.
Benjamin, from Jefferson High School in Daly City, is set compete next season for Pacific Union College in the Napa County city of Angwin. Benjamin had a solid sophomore year for the Colts, averaging 8.0 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.9 assists over 27 games.
Mathieson, out of Westmont High School in Campbell, is on his way to Southern California to play for The Master's University in Santa Clarita. As a freshman at Cañada, Mathieson averaged 8.2 points and 3.8 rebounds over 21 games.
