REDWOOD CITY – The 2023-24 Cañada College men's basketball season got off to an impressive start as the Colts cruised to a 78-49 win over visiting Diablo Valley College on Thursday.
Cañada held a 35-28 advantage at halftime before blowing out the Vikings 43-21 over the final 20 minutes.
The Colts had five score in double figures in the contest, led by 16 points from Luca Joe Ewelt. Sean Crowley was a spark off the bench, contributing 15 points and a game-high 9 rebounds. Brylan Lundy had a solid game with 11 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals.
Luke Mathiesen poured in 12 points and Daylen Fleming chipped in with 10 points, 4 boards, and 4 assists.
Cañada, now 1-0, returns to action on Wednesday (Nov. 8) when the Colts host Monterey Peninsula College in a 5 p.m. Coast Conference interdivision game.
