Colts handle Bulldogs In Game 2 Win
Cañada ousted College of San Mateo 4-2 on Thursday afternoon at Colt Field in front of a large crowd of Colt and Bulldog fans.
The Colts struck first getting on the board in the 1st inning after So. 2B Chris Arce singled then scored on an error by the Bulldog's catcher.
Cañada added another run in the 2nd after Fr. RF Justin Gladfelter singled to center field to score So. CF Carson Vance.
So. SS Kyler Bittner homered to center field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the 7th bringing the score to 4-0. San Mateo scored two runs in the top of the 8th, but the Colts defense held them down to secure the win.
Fr. RHP Caden Cuccia earned the win for Cañada. The pitcher held the Dogs scoreless for 7 innings. During his time on the mound he gave up three hits and two runs over seven and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking one.
Fr. RHP Mateo Rojas collected the save pitching one and a third innings of scoreless ball.
Bittner led the Colts offense with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The shortstop went 1-for-3 on the day. Arce went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the team in hits. The Colts defense was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Fr. 1B Cole Leschak made the most plays with nine.
