Game Goes Down To The Wire As Colts Fall to Bulldogs 7-6
A walk-off walk left Cañada on the wrong end of a 7-6 defeat to College of San Mateo on Saturday afternoon at College of San Mateo. Despite the loss, the Colts took the series 2 games to 1.
Cañada got on the board in the top of the 1st inning after So. 3B Jacob Brewer smashed a solo home run to center field. Later that inning, Fr. DH Tim Selway doubled on a line drive to right field scoring three runs and bringing the score to 4-0.
Down 6-4 in the top of the 8th Fr. RF Justin Gladfelter singled to center field scoring a run to bring the Colts within 1.
In the top of the 9th So. 2B Chris Arce singled down the left field line to tie the game at six. In the bottom of the 9th the Bulldogs would go on to win 7-6.
So. RHP Devin Bettencourt led things off on the hill for Cañada. The starter allowed seven hits and six runs (four earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking three. Fr. RHP Aden Dean came on in relief to pitch 1.2 innings of scoreless baseball.
Cañada collected 10 hits in the game. Arce led the way with three hits while Selway led in RBIs with three. So. SS Kyler Bittner stole two bases leading the Colts in SB.
