Bats On Fire As Cañada Beats San Francisco 16-2
The Colts scored 16 runs on 15 hits in Game 2 of their match up with the Rams on Thursday afternoon winning 16-2.
A double by Fr. RF Justin Gladfelter put Cañada on the board in the top of the second.
Two more Colt runs crossed the plate in the 4th inning to extend the lead to 3-0. So. SS Kyler Bittner hit a solo home run to left field, and Fr. LF Caden Cuccia doubled to score another run.
Cañada then added six runs on three hits in the top of the 8th inning. So. 3B Jacob Brewer was struck by a pitch driving in a run, So. 2B Chris Arce drew a walk scoring the second run, and Fr. 1B Cole Leschak singled scoring the third run of the inning. Carson Vance, the Colts So. CF singled on a line drive to left field, scoring the fourth run, So. C Ethan Payne drew a walk, scoring the fifth run, and Fr. DH Stone Daniel-Savage drew a walk, scoring the sixth run of the inning.
Cañada continued the damage in the 9th scoring five more runs on four hits. So. 1B Eduardo Jimenez doubled on a line drive to right field scoring two runs, Daniel-Savage hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Gladfelter singled, scoring the final two runs for the Colts.
Mateo Rojas stepped on the mound first for Cañada. The freshman right handed hurler gave up five hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking one. Fr. RHP Ryan Kinoshita and So. LHP Dylan Petrin each came on in relief pitching hitless scoreless innings to shutdown San Francisco City College.
The Colts accumulated 15 hits in the game. Gladfelter and Leschak each collected three hits while Fr. DH Justin Sechler and Vance each collected two. The Cañada offense had patience at the plate tallying 11 walks in the game, and the defense turned one double play.
