Bats were blistered as Cañada topped Sac 12-10 on Friday night at Union Stadium. The Colts collected 12 hits, while the Panthers had 10.
The bottom of the lineup was strong for Cañada. Ethan Payne, Carson Vance, and Jacob Brewer combined for seven of the team's 12 hits in their victory. They scored five runs and drove in four.
The Colts flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 5-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Vance that drove in two.
Shawn Pagee led things off on the bump for Cañada. The hurler gave up five hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking one. Mateo Rojas threw two innings of shutout ball for the Colts in relief. The pitcher allowed one hit, striking out two and walking none.
Cañada amassed 12 hits in the game. Kyler Bittner and Brewer were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Cañada while hitting back-to-back. Vance led with three runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The center fielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Payne collected two hits in three at bats and Caden Cuccia led the Colts with four walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing 16 walks for the game. Cañada ran wild on the base paths, accumulating six stolen bases (Cuccia had 3) and they turned one double play in the game.

Cañada had trouble keeping up with the Panthers in a 16-3 loss on Saturday at Sacramento City College.
Devin Bettencourt began the game for the Colts. The right-handed pitcher allowed six hits and six runs (five earned) over three innings, striking out one and walking three. Bullpen appearances followed with Gabe Levine, Drew Parenti and Dylan Petrin all pitching scoreless innings.
DH Justin Sechler led Cañada with one run batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. 1B Dominic Avila led the Colts offense with two hits in four at bats while OF Justin Gladfelter swiped two of the 4 stolen bases for Cañada. Defensively, the Colts turned two double plays in the game.
