Cañada seeded No. 19 for Northern California Regionals
The Cañada College baseball team is back in the postseason for the second straight season.
On Sunday, Cañada received the No. 19 seed for the upcoming 2024 Northern California Regional Playoffs. The Colts will travel to No. 6 Los Medanos College in Pittsburg for a best-of-three-game series that is scheduled to begin on Friday (May 3) at 2:00 p.m. Game 2 is set for Saturday (May 4) at 11 a.m. with a third game, if necessary, to start at 2 p.m.
Ticket prices for the California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) postseason event are $12 for general admission and $8 for all identified students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children under 12 years old.
The Colts recently secured a fourth-place finish in the final Coast Conference North Division standings with an 11-9 mark. Cañada, led by long-time head coach Tony Lucca, brings a 23-17 overall record into the postseason.
Last year, the Colts advanced to the Northern California Super Regionals.
No. 6 Los Medanos enters the playoffs with an impressive 30-9 overall record and were Bay Valley Conference champions with a 19-2 mark. This weekend, Cañada and Los Medanos will meet for the first time this season.
The winner of the opening series will advance to a three-team, double-elimination Super Regional on May 9-11. Winners of the Super Regionals meet in a three-game Regional Finals series on May 17-19 with a trip to the state championships on the line.
The 3C2A State Championships are scheduled for May 25-27 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.
