Colts push winning streak to 5, rout CCSF 25-2
REDWOOD CITY – Cañada College surged to its fifth straight win on Tuesday, cruising to a 25-2 rout of visiting City College of San Francisco to open a three-game Coast Conference North Division series.
The victory came after the Colts finished off a three-game series sweep of De Anza College last week.
Cañada set new season highs on Tuesday against CCSF with 25 runs, 22 hits, and 24 RBI. Just as impressive, the Colts did not strike out in 62 plate appearances against the Rams, the first time that has occurred this season as well.
Nine of the Colts hits went for extra bases, including a two-run home run by John Paul Avila. He had a huge game at the plate, going a perfect 4 for 4 with 5 RBI.
Chris Arce (2 for 3, 2B), Jonathan Sollano (2 for 3, 2 2B), and Chalom Rosenberg (2 for 2, 2 2B) all drove in 3 runs while Max Ross (1 for 4, 2B), Kyler Bittner (2 for 7, 4 runs, 3 stolen bases), and Louis Coca (1 for 4, 2B) had 2 RBI each.
Brady Greene was solid in the start on his way to the way for the Colts. He tossed 7 innings, allowing 1 earned run and 5 hits. Jose Lopez and Damian Lapuz closed out the victory with scoreless innings.
Cañada improved to 18-15 overall and 6-7 in the Coast Conference North Division. The series against San Francisco continues on Thursday (Apr. 11) with Game 2 to be played at Mission College at 2:30 p.m. while Game 3 is back home in Redwood City on Saturday (Apr. 13) at 1 p.m.
