Colts smash 4 home runs in win over Gavilan
REDWOOD CITY – The Cañada College baseball team extended its winning streak to 10 games thanks to a 12-5 offensive outburst against visiting Gavilan College on Sunday.
The Colts totaled 13 hits in the contest, including solo home runs from Max Ross, Jonathan Sollano, John Paul Avila, and Jacob Brewer.
Ross had a huge game, going a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate with 3 RBI, 2 runs, and a pair of walks. Sollano also banged out 3 hits, going 3 for 4 with 2 RBI and 3 runs. Avila (2 for 4, 2 RBI) and Brewer (2 for 3, 2 runs, RBI) also were solid on offense.
Devin Bettencourt improved to 3-0 on the season with the victory on the mound for the Colts. He went 6 innings, scattering 10 hits while allowing 3 runs. Bettencourt struck out 7 and walked none. Gianvito Carriglio earned a save by throwing the final 3 innings, allowing 2 runs while striking out 3.
Cañada improved to 11-6 overall with the Coast Conference interdivision win. The Colts are back in action on Tuesday (Mar. 5) for another Coast crossover game at Ohlone College.
