REDWOOD CITY – Justin Parrish's goal in the 58th minute proved to be the game-winner as the Cañada College men's soccer team rallied to beat visiting Cabrillo College by a final score of 3-2 on Friday.
The Coast Conference win improved the Colts to 6-2-5 overall and 2-2-2 in Coast North Division standings.
Cañada got off to a fast start and jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead after Leimana Makasini scored in the first minute thanks to the assist from Vlad Tomutiu.
But Cabrillo bounced back to score goals in the 29th and 38th minutes to take a 2-1 advantage. The Colts were able to get the equalizer just moments before the halftime whistle as Justin Galvez found the back of the net off the assist from Solari Gomez. The two squads went into the break all tied up at 2-2.
In a back-and-forth second half, Parrish was able to break through for the game-winner with the assist from Galvez. Goalkeeper Luis Evangelista and the Cañada defense was able to hold Cabrillo over the final 45 minutes to complete the come-from-behind win.
Evangelista was credited with 6 saves.
The Colts are unbeaten over their last four games (2-0-2) and will look to keep that streak going on Tuesday (Oct. 22) when they travel to Monterey Peninsula College for a 4 p.m. Coast Conference game.
