Colts wrap up season in playoffs; Ewelt, Lundy earn All-Coast Conference honors
The 2023-24 Cañada College men's basketball season came to a close with the Colts' 64-48 loss at Columbia College in an opening-round game of the Northern California Regional Playoffs.
Cañada held its own with one of the top teams in the state. The No. 24-seeded Colts trailed by just four points (32-28) at halftime to No. 9 Columbia before the Claim Jumpers pulled away midway through the second.
Luca Joe Ewelt posted a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds while Josiah Morris led the Colts with 12 points.
Cañada returned to the playoffs for the first time since the 2018-19 season.
2024-24 ALL-COAST CONFERENCE NORTH DIVISION HONORS
Following the close of the regular season, freshman wing/forward Luca Joe Ewelt and freshman guard Brylan Lundy were honored with All-Coast Conference North Division postseason awards.
Ewelt was a first-team All-Coast Conference North Division selection and was also named to the All-Defensive team. He led the Colts in scoring, rebounding, and assists, averaging 12.1 points, 9.4 boards, and 3.3 assists over 28 games this season.
Lundy was selected All-Coast Conference North Division honorable mention. Lundy was second on the squad in scoring as well as rebounding, averaging 9.8 points and 4.9 boards over 29 games for the Colts.
